The Tragedy In Turkey And Syria

On February 6, 2023 a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake and a series of strong aftershocks affected southeast Turkey and northwest Syria. All earthquakes are devastating, but the earthquake in Turkey and Syria will leave its mark in history. The estimated amount of deaths caused from this powerful earthquake was reported to be around 48,000. This number is just an estimate because due to their still being people who are stuck under the rubble of buildings and are still being found now. Many children between 3-6 years old were being found under buildings without food, water, and little breathing space for days. Furthermore, on February 20, 2023 an additional 6.3 earthquake hit southern Turkey. Thousands of people are now suffering injuries from this earthquake. In the cold blazing weather many suffer without a roof on their head. In desperation, many search for the hope to find their family members. As seen on clips, people in Turkey and Syria can hear their family members under the rubble but are not able to get them out immediately until help arrives. This tragedy has touched the lives of millions across the world. Many international rescue teams have fled to Turkey and Syria to help get those under the rubble, and give confirmation to those looking for their family members. Every little contribution can make a difference to those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
