The Pandemonium of Quantumania
In anticipation of the release of Marvel’s first Phase 5 project, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, on February 17th, 2023, fans can’t help but let their imaginations run wild which settle in the form of theories. As an avid Ms. Marvel fan, my mind warmed to one theory in particular as it tied in elements from Ms. Marvel as well as Shang Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings and Loki, the most obvious connection as the main antagonist of the upcoming movie is a variant of the TVA’s Kang the Conqueror.
In the trailer for the last movie in the Ant-Man trilogy, we get a sneak peek of Kang’s kingdom, the Quantum Realm. The patterning of his architecture just so happens to match both the patterning on the Ten Rings from Shang Chi and Ms. Marvel’s bracelet which means it’s likely they originated from the same place. The trailer also tells us that Kang is building a machine, which, no surprise, matches the patterns of the bracelet and Ten Rings. Secondly, Kang asks for Ant-Man’s help, possibly to finish said machine. The theory speculates that the Ten Rings and Ms. Marvel’s bracelet both originate from the Quantum Realm, and Kang wants Ant-Man to get these items in order to finish his machine. Additionally, the end scene of Ms. Marvel and the introduction of The Marvels links Ms. Marvel’s powers to Captain Marvel’s powers and the so-called Veil. Even after the connection between Loki and Ant-Man through their antagonists, there is so much more under the surface to unpack, all of which lead to even more connections, including the scene in Loki with the infinity stone paperweights and the end scene of Loki in which he is pushed into a Kang-ruled realm. Given this information, one of my many questions is: Is it possible that the realm on the other side of the Veil is the Quantum Realm, and the infinity stones originated there too? If so, some more questions are: Was the “nothing” from which the infinity stones were created in the Quantum Realm? Is the TVA in the Quantum Realm? And lastly, is Loki currently in the Quantum, Kang-ruled Realm, and will be in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania?
