When I was younger, I was introduced to the world of art, not knowing how much it would impact me. I’ve always enjoyed expressing my creativity and art was the perfect out. Every person knows what it feels like to be bored in class, the way I overcame that was doodling on my page. I’d have to hand in pages and every blank space would be filled with something. So far, throughout my life art has helped me express my emotions and I was able to hone in on it in AP art. The class-tested my creativity and how I was able to produce myself on a page. As I have evolved, so has my art. This journey has led me to find my passion in Interior Design. I am attending FIT in the fall for this, but getting in was no easy feat. FIT requires design majors to submit an in-depth portfolio displaying their artistic abilities. I worked endlessly for months and took a pre-college class at FIT for ten weeks honing in on my skills for submissions. I was able to work with a wide range of mediums, some of which I didn’t like, but it pushed me out of my comfort zone. That’s what I appreciate about art the most, it challenges me to look at things differently. I fell in love with mediums I never expected I’d like, such as charcoal. Art has shaped me into someone I can be proud of. It has grown with me and my life would be bleak without it.
