June 1st, 2024, Jackson Goldstone had a rough run in Red Bull’s Hardline Downhill Mountain Biking Competition.
Red Bull Hardline is an invitational competition where expert riders from all over the world come together to compete on the hardest trails ever built. This year celebrated the competition’s 10th anniversary and took place in Tasmania, Australia.
After receiving third place in the qualifying lap, Goldstone was able to advance from the qualifier onto the race. Unfortunately, only 0.37 seconds into his run, Goldstone dove down a steep technical section and slammed directly into a padded tree, possibly tearing his MCL.
The competition involves talented bikers racing down the trail that was built by Dan Atherton, one of the best riders and trail builders worldwide. The trails involve features that aren’t seen elsewhere because of how dangerous they are. They take inspiration from BMX, dirt jump, and motocross.
Goldstone has competed in Red Bull Hardline before, taking first place in 2022. He excels in many areas of biking like BMX, dirt-jumping, and downhill mountain biking. Being a native resident of British Columbia, the mountain biking capital of the world, he was able to practice for days on end. Becoming The Junior World Downhill Cup and Red Bull Hardline Champion that he is today.
After getting medically evacuated from the scene, Goldstone posted his crash on Instagram saying, “Got off the line by a few inches and slipped into a rock pitching me forward into a padded tree.”
Hopefully, Goldstone will be able to recover quickly from his Hardline crash; we will keep watching his recovery and reporting on any developments.
