As the 2025 seniors slow down in preparation for leaving the halls of Smithtown High School East for the last time, one group speeds up, preparing for college-level athletics. The athletic commits of this class are truly incredible, no matter the sport or division they plan to pursue. These athletes have worked incredibly hard to make it to this point, with a most challenging and more rewarding road ahead, making honoring each of them an incredibly easy decision.
The most common sport of this class was lacrosse. Jenna M., Addison C., Sean P., Brody R., Andre M., Brendan C., Brian D., Ryan B., and Luke D. will pick up their sticks again at college. Both the men’s and women’s teams here at SHSE are full of incredibly talented athletes with multiple county championships standing behind them.
Soccer followed closely behind in the number of commits. Sofia P., Sophia M., Brooke R., Jaedyn S., Olivia B., Matthew G., Brandon G., and Lucas B. are not quite done with their soccer legacies. Brooke R. was awarded all-county this past year.
Our school’s baseball program is also putting out a strong class of commits: Evan S., Nick P., Liam G., Nicolas R., Joseph K., and Sean F.
Mia P. will be continuing her acro career at Iona University. Sarah W. will be joining her to continue her track and field journey.
Nicolette M. will be continuing gymnastics at SUNY Cortland.
We also had multiple football commitments from this talented class! After an impressive homecoming win of 30-27, it’s no surprise that these athletes want to continue with their sport. Among them are Vincent H., Joseph F., and Cole B.
Blake B. is committed to continuing his wrestling career. He proved over the last several years that his talent belongs on the college stage. Jack B. is also continuing wrestling at SHU.
SEVC (Smithtown East Varsity Cheerleading) is sending Milan T. to cheer at The University of Delaware, one of the best college cheerleading programs in the country. Kate M. will be dancing at Endicott College. Laila B. will also be continuing her dance career at URI. Katie C. will be dancing at Stony Brook University, and Avery N. will be dancing at SJU.
Kerrin P., a dual athlete in lacrosse and field hockey here at SHSE, is pursuing field hockey further. She was awarded All-County and All-Tournament after her impressive season.
Alex A. will continue playing volleyball at Buffalo State.
No matter D1, D2, or D3, all athletes deciding to continue their sports are incredible. The determination, drive, and athletic ability needed to be a college athlete is a commitment that should never be overlooked.
