When it comes to your morning cup of joe, two names dominate the conversation: Dunkin’ and Starbucks.
Though these two brands offer similar products, they differ quite a bit in terms of price, taste, and overall experience. When comparing prices, Starbucks is significantly more expensive. Your large strawberry refresher from Dunkin costs $4.44 while at Starbucks it costs $6.25.
Although Starbucks has significantly higher prices, it comes with good reason. The service, cleanliness, quality of both food and drinks, etc., are all superior. If I’m looking to have a drink with friends, I’d prefer Starbucks every time. Comparatively, it’s much more open to customers. Although I find Starbucks worth the price, many do not.
According to East senior Katie, “To me, Dunkin’ is better because it is cheaper and there are plenty more food options. It is perfect for my after-school runs before I have dance class.” East senior Avery states, “I prefer Dunkin’ because… You are getting your money’s worth. I enjoy Starbucks when I have it, but… sometimes [Starbucks] tastes watered down while Dunkin’ tastes the same every time with much faster service.”
I have to agree with Avery, the service at Starbucks moves at a much slower pace due to their constant rush. Dunkin’ not being as busy is nice for when I simply want a drink. When comparing the food of both stores, the average person prefers Starbucks because the food tends to be less oily and better tasting, although it is more expensive.
The winner in my books is Dunkin’. Cheaper prices, better tastes, and quick service? It doesn’t get much better than that.
