Black Sabbath, the heavy metal wizards, will close their curtains one last time.
One of the greatest metal bands has announced their final show “Back to the Beginning” in the UK at Villa Park, Birmingham. They’ll be accompanied by other rock bands such as Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, etc. The event will be a fundraiser for charities such as Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Who is Black Sabbath? Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler came together to form the metal group in 1968 in Birmingham, England. The group has been cited for many years as a pioneer of the heavy metal genre. At the time of conception, members were 20-21 years old. The first hit single that they released to the public was Evil Women on January 9, 1970, which was a cover song by the band Crow.
Ozzy Osbourne, the lead singer, as well managed to become a household name with his family on the 2002, reality TV show The Osbournes. Osbourne unfortunately was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease which he revealed to the public in 2020.
When asked about the band, Mr. Sagarese, an East English teacher, describes [Black Sabbath] as groundbreaking. He appreciates their willingness to sing about “the heavy side of things” and how their musical influence can be seen across various genres of music.
Black Sabbath has had major accomplishments over the decades. Paranoid, their most-sold album, was released on September 18th, 1970, and has managed to sell 1.6 Million copies in the US. They’ve been recognized in the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. They’ve sold over 70 million albums worldwide.
Sagarese expressed that this final show of Black Sabbath is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and that Black Sabbath as a whole is amazing.
