Commitment Day at Smithtown High School East was full of energy and excitement as our rising athletes prepare to continue their sports-driven dreams at their respective colleges, spanning from the Deep South to the Northeast. These students have shown consistent discipline and hard work to achieve this incredible milestone.
Here is where our stellar athletes are heading next:
Girls’ Athletics
- Soccer: Amanda Irmscher will be attending Iona University, while Isabella Jones and Rosa Bocelli are both heading to St. Joseph’s University (New York) in Patchogue.
- Field Hockey: Brooke Simonetti is the lone star athlete representing her team as she heads to Ithaca College in upstate New York.
- Lacrosse: Ryan Dart will also stand as a solo representative for her sport, attending SUNY Cortland.
- Gymnastics: Bayla Goldberg will be the sole gymnast moving on to compete at Utica University.
- Softball: The softball team boasts three collegiate commits: Eva Roman will attend John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Caroline Stermann is heading to Mount St. Mary’s University, and Rachel Wind will attend St. Joseph’s University.

Boys’ Athletics
- Lacrosse: Three standout players are moving on to the next level: Logan Scanlon will attend SUNY Oswego, Cameron James is heading to Johns Hopkins University, and Campbell Cracchiola will play for Sacred Heart University.
- Football: The football program is sending an impressive lineup to the collegiate ranks:
- Christian Cherry – Utica University
- Ryan Farrell – Alfred University
- Matthew Santangelo – Muhlenberg College
- David Sack – Hamilton College
- Charlie Weydig – Springfield College
- Antonio Marrone – Hartwick College
- Bradley Fils-Aime – St. John Fisher University
- Baseball: Three athletes are taking the diamond at the next level: Nicolas Piccoli will attend Mercy University, Luke Mercardante is heading to Russell Sage College, and Conner DeLauzon will be playing for the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).
- Basketball: Craig O’Neill represents the basketball program as he commits to the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
- Soccer: Brandon Cruz is the sole soccer commit, heading to the University of New Haven.
Co-Ed & Mixed Athletics
- Cheerleading: The cheer program has three athletes heading to fantastic universities: Stefani Felber will attend the University of West Georgia, Luca Palumbo is heading to Farmingdale State College, and Ashlynn McGovern will join Hofstra University.
- Cross Country: Matthew Laub will be running for Suffolk County Community College, and Collin Savage will be competing for Gettysburg College.
- Swimming: Tyler Gallub will be the lone swimmer representing Smithtown East at SUNY Geneseo.
A Bright Future Ahead
Becoming a collegiate athlete requires an extraordinary amount of sacrifice. With early morning games and practices that show consistent and unwavering dedication, not just from the players, but from their coaches, families, and teammates who supported them along the way. These signs of commitment represent the closing of an amazing chapter at Smithtown East and the beginning of an adventurous journey ahead.
